Controlling authority
Who does a Minnesota public adjuster represent? The insured on compensated first-party real- or personal-property claims. Section 72B.02 defines an insured-side property-claim role. Can a person act or hold out as a public adjuster without the license? No, unless a chapter 72B exemption applies. Section 72B.03 reaches acting and holding out. For minnesota public-adjuster role, license, lines, and exam, Begin with chapter 72B and current Commerce and PSI material. Mark whether a point comes from statute, agency procedure, policy wording, or editorial study design. The license class and line of authority must match the performed work. A contractor title, entity credential, or private contract cannot substitute for individual public-adjuster authority.
Course takeaway: The insured on compensated first-party real- or personal-property claims. No, unless a chapter 72B exemption applies. Independent adjuster, public adjuster, and crop hail adjuster.
