This course is property-claim and insured-side practice education, not licensing preparation. Alaska does not issue a public-adjuster insurance license and has no official public-adjuster examination. The Division of Insurance says the insurance code does not require a person handling claims for an insured to hold an insurance license, while it may act on unfair or deceptive trade practices under AS 21.36.125. Alaska's independent-adjuster license and Pearson examination cover insurer-side work and are not a public-adjuster credential. Completing this course or its practice assessments does not create an Alaska license, certification or state approval. The Division also warns that public adjusting may amount to the practice of law depending on its scope; consult a qualified Alaska attorney about representation, litigation or other legal rights.
